Linden’s new leader

LINDEN – Meet Estee Jamieson Linden community association’s new chairperson.

The community welcomes their new leader Estee Jamieson.

On 10 March this year Jamieson was elected the new Linden Community Association chairperson at Linden Hoërskool. She started off in 2013 by attending the meetings and strongly developed her passion for social media and how it could help the association. Liesl-Mae, the former chairperson, approached Jamieson to become the chairperson to which she graciously accepted.

“ I have lived in Linden for the past 22 years, and I have every reason for this area to stay the amazing suburb I have grown to love,” said Jamieson. In the role of a chairperson the pressure is immense and Jamieson commented, “I do feel that I will need to work hard to gain the confidence of the community as I might be perceived as being a bit too young for the position, but I feel that I have the right passion and drive to make this a great success.”

Jamieson identified three areas where Linden is facing challenges – security, communication and beautification. Communication as Jamieson put it, “[In] a suburb [where people] communicate with each other and share information effectively, we can be a better community.” By taking back their streets, Jamieson believes that children can play in the streets and by beautifying the area it will increase property value. She further added, “If we can make our suburb the safest suburb by consolidating various security efforts and working closely with the police.”

Jamieson concluded, “If I could ask one thing of the community it would be for us to start working together to take back our suburb, everyone can make a difference, even if it is one small change at a time. A great quote sums it up for me perfectly: Be the community you want to have – Darren Rowse.”
