GALLERY: Bernina gives back

BLACKHEATH – The children at Marang House will be warm this winter after receiving a donation from Bernina.

Local business, Bernina donated 14 hand-made blankets to the children at Marang House on 13 June.

Marang House, based in Northcliff, cares for children suffering from chronic illnesses. Owner of Bernina Charlie du Toit said, “We host a sewing group every Saturday at the store and the ladies decided to do this project to give back to the community.”

Du Toit and her team of seamstresses started collecting bandanas and some were donated by customers, these were then used to make the blankets. “We also gave each child a handmade knitted teddy bear,” said Du Toit.

Salome Parkies from Marang House escorted the children to Bernina to collect their gifts. “We are very grateful to Bernina for giving us these beautiful and colourful blankets. Thank you,” said Parkies.
