UPDATE: Shootout between guards and robbers
RANDBURG - Alleged suspects flee without and cash.
Two security guards were allegedly dropping off money at the Standard Bank in Randburg Square shopping centre at about 10 am.
The guards were confronted by eight armed suspects.
The guard with the money trolley was alerted by his partner, still in the security van about the suspects. He then dashed into the bank as robbers were firing shots.
According the Gauteng SAPS provincial spokesperson Lt-Col Katlego Mogale a shootout ensued and the suspects fled the scene without taking any money.
“Cases of Attempted cash in transit and Attempted murder have been opened for investigation,” she said.
