Klarika fights against animal cruelty

BLOUBOSRAND – Animal rights activist Klarika Nettleton highlights the plight of animals on Mandela Day.

Klarika Nettleton, who is known for her hard work fighting against animal cruelty, was at Pick n Pay Douglasdale on Mandela Day.

The animal rights activist, highlighted the plight of animals and asked for donations from the customers, who gladly obliged.

“I did stick signs on the trolley saying, ‘Happy Birthday, dear Madiba’. We must bestow on South Africa the greatest gift – a humane society’ (Nelson Mandela).”

Nomsa, as she is affectionately called by the community, quoted the late Rolihlahla Mandela when he delivered his speech during the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the death of Steve Biko, in 1997.

Nettleton added that readers need to know what they can do to help relieve suffering.

“I am so grateful to the store manager, Gavin Nelson of Douglasdale Pick n Pay who allowed me to do it,” said Klarika, a resident in Bloubosrand.
