American arrested after trying to swallow vehicle keys

RANDBURG - Motorist who allegedly refused for his car to be searched is arrested after police find drugs in his vehicle.

A motorist believed to be about 35 years old, was arrested for possession of drugs, on the morning of 6 August.

Randburg SAPS  stopped a suspicious vehicle on the corner of Sirdar Street and Abingdon Road.

The police asked to search the suspect who allegedly refused and insisted that they could only search him if they had a warrant of arrest.

The motorist believed to be an American, allegedly locked his car and tried to gulp the key.

Randburg spokesperson Constable Stanley Bopape explained that the suspect failed to swallow the key and puked it.

“The police who were on duty at the time took the car keys, unlocked the vehicle and searched it,” said Const Bopape.

He added that drugs were found in his car and he was arrested for possession of drugs.

“The man will appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon,” concluded Bopape.
