RANDBURG – City Power announces multiple power outages during September.

City Power has announced multiple planned power outages during September, due to necessary maintenance to be done in and around the area.

City Power acting outage coordinator Dikeledi Mokapela said the planned power interruption will occur late at night to ensure it does not affect businesses and consumers.

“Although it is an inconvenience, City Power needs to switch off the electricity supply in order to execute maintenance in order for it to function at its maximum potential,” said Mokapela.

Outages will occur from 10pm untill 6am as follows:

3 September: Booth Hill (Harveston A.H and Honeydew Manor)

7 September: Parkhurst (Blairgowrie, Linden and Pierneef Park Ext 1)

17 September: Rosebank (Craighall, Killarney, Dunkeld Melrose, Hyde Park A Settlement, Dunkeld West, Parktown North, Saxonwold)

22 September: Olivedale (Bellairspark Ext 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, Meadowhurst AH, Northgate Ext 8, 12, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 24, 37, 39, 40, 41, 42, 44, 47)

Mokapela said it is important to note the mentioned areas will definitely be isolated and people should prepare accordingly

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck said the outages used to happen only once or twice a year but in recent years, it has been happening four or five times a year.

“The equipment is becoming outdated and this is causing outages to occur more regularly,”said Trulluck.

Truluck advised residents follow City Power on twitter and check the progress of maintenance.
