First golden tea bag found

RANDPARK RIDGE– The first golden tea bag out of four was discovered by Priscilla Divala.

It was a pleasant surprise when a 43-year-old nurse from Randpark Ridge found a golden tea bag in a box of Laager Rooibos. She couldn’t believe that she won a R100 000 cash prize in the Laager Rooibos Golden Tea Bag Hunt competition.

“I couldn’t believe it. I thought it was a joke,” she exclaimed. The married woman of two children is a frequent Laager Rooibos consumer and discovered the golden tea bag in a specially marked promotional pack. Laager rooibos has always been part of her shopping parcel and she couldn’t do without it.

“I didn’t even know anything about the competition and just did the usual thing, buying my Laager Rooibos from my local grocery store,” she said. Dival hasn’t decided how she will spend her prize money but finding the golden tea bag has changed the way she will see a box of Laager Rooibos again.

Residents still stand a chance to win in the competition, where there are still four more golden tea bags to be won until the end of the month of September. Residents can also follow the competition and see what other prizes they stand a chance to win, on the Laager Facebook page. The Durban-based Joekels Tea Packers master tea blender and director Jonathan Kelsey welcomed the public to participate in the promotion through a You tube video.

“We have always believed our Laager Rooibos tastes like gold, so we are rewarding our fans with some real gold,” Kelsey said.
