Drainage pipe leaks sludge into street

WINDSOR WEST – The drainage-tank of a local garage leaks sludge into Alice Street in Windsor West.

A local petrol station’s drainage-tank leaked sludge and dirty water into Alice Street in Windsor West on 26 October.

Total garage owner Thair Abdul Rahiman explained that a pipe slipped out of the drainage-tank during the drainage process and caused black sludge and dirty water to leak into the street.

He said it was a pure mistake and apologised for any inconvenience caused by the incident.

Rahiman said this procedure happens every six months, but they have not had a leak before.

He said the garage takes full responsibility for the incident and will clean the mess that runs all the way down into Viscounts Avenue.

Ward 98 councillor Laurette van Zijl said she was impressed with the garage’s quick response and requested that methods and structures should be put into place to avoid another possible occurrence as such.

“If proper structures and safety measures are put into place this will not happen again and we will avoid future problems.” said Van Zijl.
