Security advises on the importance of knowing your neighbour

RANDPARK RIDGE – Security awareness day gives residents an opportunity to reflect on the criminal attacks and do their part to protect themselves.

Crime can be eradicated if neighbours from various complexes communicate with each other, according to Francois de Klerk,

managing director of the GP Group, a private security company. He believes that security measures could only get stronger when certain communities get to know their neighbours.

The company and residents from Duiker Ridge, Randpark Ridge Ext 5, Strelitzia Garden villages and other complexes in the Randpark Ridge area attended the annual security awareness day on 24 October at Open Veld, Corner Beyers Naudé Drive and Duiker Street.

The family fun day was aimed at making residents become more vigilant in their surroundings and keeping more abreast with the developing crime trends in their area.

“Security is a shared responsibility between communities and security service providers, working together with the police and other emergency services,” explained De Klerk.

Various stakeholders such as Joburg EMS and Honeydew Police attended the event.

GP media relations officer Rennie Moodley said it was the perfect time of the year for individuals, businesses and other organisations to reflect on the criminal attacks and do their part to protect themselves and their interests.

“This is the commitment that GP Group endeavours to maintain and it can only be successful if the community accepts its part in being vigilant with the proper communications set up,” said Moodley.

He concluded that the event was successful due to the sponsorship of local businesses.
