Serious collision on N14

RANDBURG – Taxi rolls – leaving two men dead and 13 others injured.

Two men have been killed and 13 others injured – six of them critically – on the morning of 23 November when a taxi rolled on the N14 between Malibongwe Drive and R511 near Diepsloot.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, ER24, along with other services, arrived on scene to find the taxi on the grass isle between the two highways, lying on its roof. The bodies of the occupants were spread across the scene.

“On assessment, paramedics found that two men had sustained fatal injuries once they were ejected from the vehicle. Unfortunately, nothing more could be done for the patients and they were declared dead on the scene,” said Meiring.

Paramedics began their treatment of the 13 injured patients and provided the critically injured patients with advanced life support interventions. Meiring confirmed that, once treated, the patients were rushed to various hospitals in the area for urgent medical treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known, but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
