FOURWAYS – Nashua Children's Charity Foundation commemorate World Aids day with a visit to the Montecasino Bird Gardens.

The Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation commemorated World Aids Day on 28 November at the Montecasino Bird Gardens.

Founder Helen Fraser explained that the 10-year-old foundation supports 15 000 children per year from various children’s homes nationally.

She said the foundation was started with only two children’s homes and has grown to supporting 72 children’s organisations in the country.

“We take children on about 20 different outings throughout the year such as a visit to the Bird Gardens, Sun City, the Johannesburg Zoo and shopping excursions. We also support them with toiletries, clothes, linen, toys, school uniforms, bags, cleaning materials, and stationary,” explained Fraser.

She added they also focus on improving the children’s basic living conditions by renovating centres when needed.

Some children of Villa of Hope Children’s Home, Caritas Home, Santu HIV and Aids relief project and Bongani Community Development Centre visited the Bird Gardens.

Fraser said each child received a juice, a muffin, candyfloss, ice-cream, popcorn, lunch, hampers and watched a theatre production.

She concluded and said the Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation will also celebrate the World Aids Day with a in-house event for the staff soon.

“At this years event’, celebrities such as Thaba September, Mark Fish, Hlubi Zizobeda, Siboniso Jaxa and Flo Simba will also be present,” said Fraser.
