JRA cleans roads in Fontainebleau

FONTAINEBLEAU – Councillor Wood indicates that regular road maintenance will prevent potholes.

Ward 104 Councillor Mike Wood endorsed the work done by Joburg Road Agency (JRA) in Fontainebleau.

The entity had over the past three days cleared the weeds along Maria Street, Martha Road and Rabie Avenue. The agency has also cleared the drains along the road.

He said the inlet drains were on the verge of blocking due to sand flowing in during the rain. He further explained that weeds were damaging the tarred road.

“Flooding is a major concern in this area,” he said referring to the state of the road.

He continued that if JRA continues to maintain roads regularly, issues such as potholes could be prevented.

“Weeds were growing in the tar and if it is not removed, eventually the road would crack and develop potholes,” he said.
