Even guys can knit
FERNDALE – Staff members from Nemai Consulting handed over 100 knitted blocks to Donna Sipman who will turn them into blankets for victims of trauma.
Employees from Nemai Consulting partnered up with Donna Sipman and knitted more than 100 squares that will be used to create blankets for the Randburg Trauma Centre.
Kristy Robertson from Nemai Consulting said that she read the article in the Randburg Sun, where Sipman urged residents to become involved and encouraged her colleagues to join in.
“I thought this is such a good idea and I contacted Sipman who gave us some guidance,” she said. She added that she and her colleagues held a training session where she gave them tips on how to knit and they all enjoyed the whole process, from learning how to knit to knitting the squares. She added that even her male colleagues got involved and learned how to knit because they all wanted to help in their own way.
Sipman explained that she has had a good response from Randburg residents after the article was published and that after the blankets were sewn together she would be handing the blankets over to the Randburg Trauma Centre. “Often the victims of crime who visit the trauma centre are suffering from shock and the blankets are able to provide comfort and also serve as gifts as they can take the blankets home,” she said.
She thanked the staff from Nemai Consulting for their contribution and challenged them to continue knitting as the trauma centre needed blankets throughout the year.
She encouraged all residents to knit for the victims who often had very little clothes. She explained that the victims sat for hours while they were being processed and that the blankets helped them while they sat and waited. She also thanked her sewers who put the blankets together.
