The fight against crime continues as two suspects appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on charges of robbery.
Randburg Police Station spokesperson, Captain Makgowanyana Maja explained that the two suspects were arrested after they robbed a victim of his belongings on 1 September. “The complainant was stationary at the traffic lights on the corner of Hill and Marie streets in Ferndale when he was approached by the two suspects.”
He added that they threatened him with a firearm. “He was robbed of his belongings and the suspects ran away, but fortunately, another motorist saw what had happened and went to help. The suspects were chased and arrested.”
Maja added that there were other arrests during a police operation around the Johannesburg West cluster, which included arrests for armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of ammunition, housebreaking, theft, possession of suspected illegal substances and stolen property. “During the operation, three firearms were seized with their serial numbers filed off, but investigations are continuing in all cases.”
