Lucky shopper drives off with a new car
NORTHWOLD – Lyle Minott is the proud owner of a Hilux bakkie after entering a beer competition.
A lucky customer drove away with a brand-new Hilux bakkie after only buying a six-pack of beer.
Lyle Minott went to the Northworld Spar Tops bottle store earlier in the year when his son Kye spotted a poster with the competition on and encouraged his father to enter. “Funny enough, I recall I had quite a frustrating day, one of those days where everything took double the amount of time to do,” he said.
“Nonetheless, eventually I was sitting down on the couch having a Windhoek and entering the competition and saying to my wife how it would be so funny if we win after all that had happened that day.”
When Minott received the call that he was the winner, he was very happy and said that it will change his life. “The car is insane, I have learned so much about it since winning and Windhoek has now become my beer of choice. I’ll never look at the Windhoek bottle the same way again,” he added.
Assistant brand manager for the Windhoek, Kaltlego Makete said that they ran the competition to reward their loyal customers all around the country. “We had to first see that our winner qualified to win the car after his name was randomly selected from thousands of others, and once that was done, we arranged to hand over the car,” he said. The car was handed over to Minott on 16 September.
Manager of Spar Northworld, George Neophytou said the support they got from their customers is appreciated and that they were happy that the winner came from their store.
“I am so grateful to have won the Hilux, which is tougher than any other bakkie, my life is forever changed,” said Minott.
