Taxi overturns, leaving 10 injured in Sonneglans

SONNEGLANS – A six-year-old child was among the injured passengers.

Ten people were injured when a taxi overturned on the corner of Malibongwe and President Fouché drives on the evening of 5 October.

The crash occurred after 8pm in Sonneglans. “ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene where they found the taxi lying on its side. Most of the occupants were found walking around on the scene. Some of them were sitting on a nearby pavement,” said ER24 spokesperson, Werner Vermaak.

He added that two people sustained moderate injuries while eight others sustained minor injuries which ranged from scrapes and bruises to soft tissue injuries.

“A six-year-old child was among the patients who sustained minor injuries. All of the patients were transported to various hospitals in the area,” he said.

He said the exact cause of the collision was not yet known. “However, it is understood that a light motor vehicle crashed into the side of the taxi at the intersection. The driver of the light motor vehicle sustained only minor injuries,” he concluded.
