UPDATE: Pedestrian’s disregard for traffic causes accident

JACANLEE – A case of reckless driving has been opened for hit-and-run.

A suspect of a hit-and-run incident, where a man was hit by a car on Malibongwe Drive earlier this month, has not been arrested as yet.

Captain Walter Spencer, communications officer for Linden Police Station confirmed that on 1 October at about 1.30pm, a pedestrian ran into traffic and was hit by a vehicle. The pedestrian was assisted by City of Joburg Emergency Medical Services personnel and ER24 paramedics, and was taken to Helen Joseph Hospital.

“A case of reckless and negligent driving was opened and investigated. No person has been arrested and it seems that the pedestrian did not regard traffic and tried to cross Malibongwe [Drive] at a spot that does not make provision for a pedestrian crossing,” said Spencer.

The case continues.

Details: Linden Police Station 011 888 9299.
