Five armed men who allegedly stormed the Cleopatra store in Fontainebleau fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, cellphones and cigarettes.
According to Linden police spokesperson Captain Walter Spencer, the armed men took the money from the till.
This incident occurred on Rabie Street at about 9.20pm on 10 October. “No one has been arrested and we opened a case of business robbery,” he said.
He added that the objective should be to remove the opportunity for criminals to commit crime.
This could be done through using drop safes and ensure minimum access of high-value commodities in shops and businesses.
He said customers could avoid these incidents by planning appropriately and avoid late night shopping. “If all those shops agree on one local security company they can safeguard money and fulfil security measures,” he concluded.
