The Linden CPF Sector 4 sub-forum, Linden police and the Gauteng Provincial Saps will hold a community awareness day on 29 October at Cresta Shopping Centre.
They can be found at the parking area entrance 4 (outside Panarotti’s).
Chairperson of the CPF Sector 4 sub-forum, Louise Mynhardt said that it had become clear that there is an increased problem with personal crimes such as hijackings, motor vehicle thefts, theft out of motor vehicles, car jammings, robberies at traffic lights and theft of cellphones.
“Some of these crimes are entirely preventable, so the focus of the awareness day will be on how to protect yourself and your belongings against criminals,” she said.
Mynhardt pointed out that, as Cresta Shopping Centre was where much of the surrounding communities that are served by the Linden police precinct frequented, it was the obvious choice to hold the awareness day there.
She thanked Cresta Shopping Centre management for their assistance with this project and added that the Linden CPF would be present on the day with a branded gazebo as well as the Linden police. The event will start at 9am and will end at 6pm.
Various units of the Gauteng Provincial police present on the day will include:
- Water Wing
- Its band
- The K9 Unit (dogs)
- Forensics (including fun fingerprinting for children)
- Victim Support
- Mounted unit (horses)
- Gauteng Traffic Saturation unit.
