The fingerprint unit, explosive and mounted unit alongside the Linden CPF Sector 4 sub-forum as well as the Linden police held a crime awareness day at Cresta Shopping Centre where shoppers got to spend time with the police who explained how they fight crime on a daily basis.
Spokesperson, for the Linden Police Station, Captain Walter Spencer explained that the awareness day was an opportunity for residents to see what services the police had to offer but also an opportunity for the private security sector to share crime prevention tips.
Francois Marais from Ghost Squad armed response said that crime prevention was not only for one sector in society but rather that it was a team effort. “If you see something suspicious report it to the police; if you see something, say something,” he advised.
Residents had an opportunity to mingle with the police and ask any questions that came to mind. Crime prevention pamphlets were handed out and some special equipment was on display.
