VGRA donates knitted blankets to trauma centre
FERNDALE – The next domestic meeting will be held in the second week of February next year.

Vandia Grove Residents Association (VGRA) donated knitted blankets to the Randburg Trauma Counselling Centre during the last Domestic Watch meeting of the year.
Carol Corbett from the VGRA said domestic workers were treated to delicious boerewors rolls which were donated by the Hobart Spar. Various stakeholders advised workers about safety precautions during the festive season.
Raymond Miller from CSS private security company advised domestic workers to be cautious while travelling to their homes or while at their employer’s home. He stressed that domestic workers should be equipped with a panic button in case of an emergency while at work.
Jan Kennedy, who leads the sewing up of the knitted squares, handed over about 13 blankets to the trauma centre. One of the domestic workers received a prize of a toiletry bag after she pulled out a lucky number in a competition that was held during this meeting.

Kennedy warned workers about the significance of diabetes and advised that Dischem was running a free test during November.
“We will organise for a comprehensive talk on diabetes next year,” said Corbett. The next Domestic Watch meeting will be held in the second week of February.
“We send our best wishes to the families of VGRA for a safe, happy and blessed Christmas and a successful 2017,” she concluded.
