Thieves use public transport to ferry stolen goods

LINDEN – Police warn the public to be more vigilant as suspects are using public transport to ferry stolen goods.

Police have established that suspects have been using public transport to move their stolen goods.

According to Linden police spokesperson Captain Walter Spencer, a suspect has admitted that he and others use public transport when they don’t have their own vehicles.

“They will call a taxi service – either traditional taxis or even Uber, to transport stolen items,” said Spencer.

The police have also established that some unsuspecting family members’ or boyfriends’ or girlfriends’ vehicle were used to commit crimes.

“The taxis don’t always know that they are transporting stolen items. The one suspect we interviewed was stealing gate motors and called an Uber,” he said.

Spencer warned that criminals can use any mode of transport to ferry stolen goods.
