A Randpark Ridge school hosts first national netball tournament

RANDPARK RIDGE – Local school hosts its first National Netball Festival.

The netball played at Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge Preparatory‘s first National Netball Festival was nothing short of sensational.

The U13 tournament, played between 18 and 20 May, saw eight schools from all over the country come together to compete for top honours. Although the festival was a friendly, with scores and winners not officially recorded, every game meant something to the players, parents and school staff in attendance.

“In the past few days I have seen incredible resilience and grit from players and teammates supporting each other,” said head of netball at the host school, Yolandi Ferreira.

“The players have grown and bloomed this year as they have made new friendships and built on relationships that will last them a lifetime.”

Makha Mntungwa of Westville Senior Primary School in KwaZulu-Natal was awarded the Sportswoman of the Festival, while the Open Team Player of the Festival was Nina Swart of Trinityhouse, and Second Team Player of the Festival was Result Makaya of Sun Valley Primary School in the Western Cape.
