Marang House children have a sweet time
OLIVEDALE – Netcare Olivedale Hospital gives children of Marang House treats as they mark Mandela Day.
Goodie bags and treats were the order of the day for the children of Marang House, when a team from Netcare Olivedale Hospital paid them a visit on 25 July to mark Mandela Day.
Marang House is a non-profit organisation based in Northcliff and cares for underprivileged children living with chronic illnesses.
“We ensured that our gifts met the specific needs of each child. The children were delighted to receive goodie bags including clothing, tasty treats in line with the children’s dietary requirements, and other fun items,” said Linda Baghaloo, general manager of the hospital.
She said the joy on the children’s faces certainly reinforced their commitment to the house and the wonderful support they give the children.

Baghaloo explained that Netcare Olivedale Hospital started its relationship with Marang House on Nelson Mandela Day two years ago. “To see how the children have grown, not only physically but also in their understanding of how they manage their individual medical conditions, was heart-warming.”
She praised the staff of Marang House, particularly matron Salome Parkies, for their work and teaching the children under their care about the importance of a correct diet and exercise, and empowering them with the knowledge they need to manage their health issues.
The house provides a home environment for those requiring constant health monitoring and management.
