The sunny moon’s over – time for a jacket

JOBURG – A cold front will be hitting Gauteng and might be causing snow in four provinces as well as Lesotho.

After sunny skies in Johannesburg, the mercury will be dropping significantly on Thursday.
While the temperature will be dropping on Thursday, Friday and Saturday we’ll see increased temperatures and the weekend will end on a lovely high.

This week’s estimated temperatures (South African Weather Service):

  • Monday – 8°C, 24°C
  • Tuesday – 8°C, 25°C
  • Wednesday – 6°C, 25°C
  • Thursday – 4°C, 12°C
  • Friday – 3°C, 14°C
  • Saturday – 4°C, 18°C
  • Sunday – 5°C, 21°C

While Gauteng will experience an average cold front, it is expected to bring snow to high peaks of the Western Cape as well as parts of the Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, Lesotho and KwaZulu-Natal.

According to Snow Report South Africa, they have been tracking the weather system for the past four days and are finally seeing some consistency. While they are positive about snowfall, the system is still developing and is subject to change at any moment.
