City Power does not have answers for Jukskei Park
JUKSKEI PARK – Streetlight woes continue.
An exposed cable connected to a streetlight is the latest concern Jukskei Park residents are facing, adding to the issue of streetlights remaining on 24/7.
The latest problem of an exposed cable connecting a streetlight and an electricity box has been brought to the attention of City Power and Ward 115 councillor Matome Mafokwane.
City Power has since logged the issue.

Randburg Sun contacted City Power spokesperson, Sydney Mphahlele, who referred the newspaper to Cindy-Lee Speirs, an urban inspector for City of Joburg.
In an email to Randburg Sun, Speirs’ response was that City Power does not have answers for all the concerns regarding the exposed cable and how long it would remain exposed.
Speirs said, “Calls were logged for the streetlights that were on during the day, some are resolved and are some unresolved”.
She added that the illegal connection at Sneeublom Street was attended to according to the police system, yet upon inspection by the Randburg Sun, nothing has been resolved.
The exposed cable is a safety hazard for community members and pets, particularly if it rains.

Mafokwane said he was aware of the concern of daytime running lights raised by the community. “Issues raised by residents are not new to me nor the City manager’s office. City Power has, over countless times, visited the area however nothing positive seems to be done,” said Mafokwane.
He advised that in order for this persistent problem to be resolved, the City of Johannesburg and its entities would need to adopt a new approach.
“I will continue to follow up on behalf of ratepayers until these issues are correctly addressed.”
