Camping at the Klein Jukskei

The Klein Jukskei Greenbelt Initiative is to host a bonfire and campout event.

A bonfire and camp out event will be hosted by the Klein Jukskei Greenbelt Initiative at Jukskei Park on 28 October.

The event’s purpose is for the community to get to know one another as well as to raise funds for the maintenance of Juweel Park.

The Klein Jukskei Greenbelt Initiative is a non-profit organisation (NPO) that has removed almost 100 cubic metres of rubbish from the river. It has also taken down about 2 000 invasive trees and plants, planting 450 indigenous trees in the process.

To camp, one must bring a tent and it will cost R250 but the bonfire will cost R125 per family.

Braai facilities and a food caravan will be available and there will also be 24-hour security so community members can feel safe throughout the event.

There will also be a self-defence and anti-hijacking demonstration at 3pm.

As the event is close to Halloween, children are encouraged to attend the event wearing costumes.
