Louise Hodson is at the end of her tether because of issues at the intersection of C R Swart Drive and President Fouche Road.
The intersection has small vacant fields on either side of the traffic lights which at times are occupied by street vendors.

Hodson, a resident of The Village of Golden Harvest 1, is concerned about the mess made by vagrants who allegedly drink and throw stones at the house closest to the parameter wall. She has been battling to clean up the fields at the intersection for two years but nothing has helped to make it safer.
“The houses nearest to the parameter wall of the village constantly have to put up with things thrown at their houses, especially at night. This also triggers the security sensors.
They also burn things such as the rubber of cable wires and other material to keep warm. Trucks regularly dump rubble here as well. I have tried to get the problem resolved to no avail,” said Hodson.
Hodson now wants local government to intervene and create barriers that will increase safety and prevent dumping and littering in the area.

“The Johannesburg Metro Police have removed displaced people before but they come back after a day or two. These days I don’t even allow my husband to take a walk outside the Village because I am worried about his safety.”
Ward 101 councillor Dalu Cele said the area has been cleaned by the Metro Police Department and Pikitup.
“We cannot, however, remove the displaced people living there without finding an alternative living space for them. Although we have cleaned the area, there is still plenty for us to do and we will continue to maintain the area. We have done the best we can at the moment,” said Cele.
