Be a braski, donate a bra
FERNDALE – Beanies for Beings donated over 600 bras to PinkDrive to help support women in disadvantaged communities.
Randburg charity, Beanies for Beings, donated over 600 bras to the PinkDrive to help support women in disadvantaged communities who cannot afford bras of their own on 5 February.
“There is a massive need for bras in poorer communities,” said PinkDrive’s senior nurse, Merne Ogle.
“We often do free breast examinations in these areas, and you very quickly realise that some women really need bras.
A bra is very important as it gives you the proper support you need. Some women have never even worn a bra, and many suffer from severe pain.”

Beanies for Beings collected 625 bras in total from contributions from the wider Randburg community and businesses.
Megan Botha of the Beanies for Beings Charity explained, “I added this drive to our Facebook page and it just went viral. In only six weeks, I was inundated with bras of all shapes and sizes.
“I must give a huge word of thanks to everyone who supported this drive.”
Nelius du Preez, the events coordinator for PinkDrive, expressed his delight with the campaign’s success.
“We always need bras, and when we go out to poor communities, we see how many women cannot afford to buy a bra… Many teenagers have never even worn a bra.
“This is something that a lot of us take for granted, and the main idea behind this campaign is to aid these women in breast health and help them feel more dignified.”

If you wish to donate your bras, as long as they are in good condition, you can contact Beanies for Beings on 079 089 3739.
