Minutemen Press Strijdom Park donates R21 000 to Rainbows and Smiles
STRIJDOM PARK – Local business, Minuteman Press Strijdom Park donated R21 000 to the charity, Rainbows and Smiles.
To celebrate its 21st anniversary, Minuteman Press Strijdom Park donated R21 000 to the charity, Rainbows and Smiles.
Co-owner of the business, Warwick Corder, explained that all invoices generated between January and April were entered into a draw with the winner nominating a charity of their choice to receive the sizeable donation.
The winning invoice came from Contact Media & Communications, who then nominated Rainbows and Smile as their charity.
Ward 104 councillor, Mike Wood, who was present at the handover held at the charities offices in Bryanston, said he was delighted over what the company had done.
He explained the company has played an important role in the community by grand gestures like these as well as the little things they do like ensuring the streets in which the company is located are clean.
“The company houses community-minded people who go beyond their commitments,” said Wood.
Founder of the charity, Bonni Suckling said the team was grateful for the donation, which was an amazing surprise for them.
The organisation’s aims are to provide emotional, social and financial support to families and caregivers in need when a child (or children) of that family is diagnosed with cancer.
The money they received will go towards a special ceremony they have planned that will take place in September, a month observed as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
“We will host a victory ceremony for a select number of children battling cancer,” she said. The ceremony will recognise and acknowledge children for their bravery and courage.
