Man critically injured in Zandspruit accident

ZANDSPRUIT – The injured man was transported to Helen Joseph Hospital for further treatment.

A pedestrian suffered critical injuries on the morning of 26 July after being hit by a car in Zandspruit.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24’s spokesperson, the incident occurred at the corner of Beyers Naudé Drive and Bothma Road.

When paramedics arrived at the scene, the man believed to be in his 40s was found lying on the side of the road and the vehicle that hit him had come to a halt in the middle of the road.

“Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries which left him in a critical condition,” explained Meiring. “The man was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions before he was transported to Helen Joseph Provincial Hospital for urgent care.”

While emergency services were attending to the injured man, another vehicle rear-ended the vehicle that had hit the pedestrian.

No injuries were sustained.
