No evidence of alleged kidnapping at Cresta Shopping Centre
CRESTA – The mall says there is no incriminating evidence on their security footage.
A report of an alleged attempted kidnapping of a child at Cresta Shopping Centre on the weekend surfaced on social media but the mall said there was no incriminating evidence on their security footage.
The centre said its management teams were made aware of an alleged suspicious incident that occurred in the centre.
“The security teams have reviewed all security footage and there is no evidence from the footage to pursue the case further,” the mall said. “The safety and security of our shoppers and tenants is our highest priority and we urge parents and shoppers to always be vigilant no matter where they are, at all times.
Cresta also urges that all shoppers report any suspicious incidents to the on-site security teams immediately.”
The Randburg Sun contacted the mother who later retracted her statement.
Linden police’s Constable Takalani Matumba confirmed that no case of attempted kidnapping was opened with the station.
