Blairgowrie streets haunted for Halloween
BLAIRGOWRIE – Little ones enjoyed a fun and safe Halloween event.
The streets of Blairgowrie were haunted by little witches, goblins and ghouls, during the Blairgowrie Community Association’s annual Halloween event.
The groups of children and parents walked between 32 houses dotted around the suburb, collecting as many sweets as they could before darkness fell.
The homes were decorated in a well-spirited fashion, with a bit of competition to see who could decorate the spookiest home.
Chairperson of the association Jed Kemery said, “This is the one day of the year where we as a community are out from behind our high walls, enjoying our streets and really feeling the community spirit.
“We had upwards of 400 children and parents participating in this event, coming from all over. Security for them was of utmost importance, and I can safely say that not one incident was reported.”
The association tries to encourage as much security for the little ones as possible, alerting security companies and community safety groups in the area to increase patrolling and encouraging the children to walk in monitored groups.
“This year’s Halloween event was highly successful, and I would like to thank everyone that participated and everyone who helped make it such a success,” Kemery added.
Kemery’s company, Neighbourhood Real Estate, takes pride in organising and sponsoring the event alongside the community members and the association each year.
