A day at the park for shelter dogs

DELTA PARK – We see what local dog lover, Nadine van Zyl gets up to when she spends the day with shelter dogs in search of good homes.

So, what goes into a fun-filled day at the park with a shelter dog? Well, that’s simple, treats, playtime and a lot of snuggles.

Nadine van Zyl has for the past month, spent her Sunday afternoons with shelter dogs from Community Lead Animal Welfare (Claw) at the local park. There she documents her time with the dog and posts about her day on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram in hopes that a family or someone in the community can give it a safe place to call home.

Armed with a bag full treats, dog toys and refreshments, Van Zyl treats the dogs like she would her own and shows them the kind of appreciation a shelter dog seldom gets.

She spent one particular day with Betty and Max at Delta Park where they were not only introduced to other dogs but were welcomed to the park with tummy rubs from community members.

The day is all about getting to know the dog so Van Zyl can share what kind of environment she thinks would best suit it. She spent her time with the very calm Betty and the rambunctious Max, at Delta Park where they ran and played as they enjoyed a glorious day under the autumn sun.

Their day was documented with loads of pictures and videos so that Van Zyl can post about them on social media. This brings these loveable dogs a fair chance of finding a home that was just short of them.
