A taste of Argentina
EMMARENTIA – The flea market is open to any and everyone who is interested and promises to cater to varying tastes.
If you’re in the mood to immerse yourself in Argentinian culture, then this flea market hosted by the Argentinian Association is the right place for you!
The first Sunday of the month ushers in this opportunity for a change of scenery in the suburb of Emmarentia. Who doesn’t love a good market? This is one all will want to attend, if not for the immersion of culture, then perhaps to contribute towards a good cause.
Marks Park Sports Club in Emmarentia is the location for the monthly flea market. The flea market is open to any and everyone who is interested and promises to cater to varying tastes. Whether you are in the mood to sample food, buy arts and crafts, purchase Spanish and English literature or just try something new then this is the place for you. Some of the food items that will be on sale are chicken and beef schnitzel sandwiches, sirloin steak sandwiches and the famous chimichurri sauce as well as beef empanadas and cheese empanadas from Chile. The event also boasts something for the kids with a jumping castle on the agenda and live music as well.
The Randburg Sun spoke to Oriana Pérez Casanova about the event and how it is a flea market with a cause, “We are inviting the community to help with donations for the victims of the cyclone Idai. They can bring things such as blankets, toiletries, clothes, tents, tinned foods, rice, maize, beans, water, baby formula and money or anything else that you may think can help and drop them off that day.”
The first ever Argentinian flea market will be on Sunday, 7 April. The market runs from 10am to 3pm. If you have any questions about the market or would like to be involved, email Oriana at orianaresola@gmail.com or Nora at info@asociacionargentina.africa and have a look at their Facebook page AASA Flea Market.
