Bags full of dagga found abandoned

RANDBURG – The police discovered a large amount of marijuana hidden in black plastic bags.

A large amount of marijuana hidden in black plastic bags was discovered by the Randburg Police Station at a Bryanston property on 10 May.

Randburg police spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said, “Police members received a call at the station where a homeowner requested to be accompanied by the police to her house that was rented out.”

According to Maja, the owner wanted to go back into the house after the tenants had left. “When the officers accompanied her to the house, the homeowner showed them some tied refuse bags that were left inside the house.”

When the police opened one of the 16 sealed refuse bags, they saw what they presumed to be marijuana. “On observation, the bags were ready to be delivered somewhere for the drug market. They seized the bags and the dagga would be destroyed as no one has been arrested yet.

“We would like to warn our residents that, when renting out their property, to please do more verification on their potential tenants in order not to find themselves in aiding wrong-doers. Secondly, when advertising for the potential tenants or buyers, make sure that all your valuables are in a safe place and in company of other people to limit chances of being robbed.”
