Three suspects arrested for business robbery

FERNDALE – Three suspects are in custody after a business robbery on Harley Street on 11 May.

According to Randburg Police Station spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja, the suspects who are aged between 30 and 39 years, entered the business premises just after midnight.

“Their victims were security officers. These victims were approached by an unknown number of armed suspects, who entered the guard room and threatened them with firearms before tying them up.”

The suspects then entered the building and started to take electrical appliances.

“The police were on patrol and noticed what was happening and the suspects started to run away when they noticed officers. The officers immediately gave chase,” Maja said.

Police officers entered the business premises and managed to arrest three suspects.

Several electrical appliances were recovered outside the building, which was ready to be moved away.

The alleged getaway vehicle that was also used to load the appliances was recovered and confiscated by the police to form part of an ongoing investigation.

The three suspects are expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court to face charges of business robbery.
