MMC of Finance launches new service delivery office

COSMO CITY – Representatives from the City of Joburg were proud to cut the ribbon of the brand new Cosmo City Customer Services Centre.

The MMC for Finance in the City of Joburg Funzela Ngobeni and a host of representatives of the City were proud to cut the ribbon of the brand new Cosmo City Customer Services Centre on 26 August.

After many months of residents requesting local services in the area, the City finally had enough budget to open up a new customer services centre to provide much needed customer services.

The customer services centre is located in the Cosmo City multipurpose centre.

Ward 100 councillor Mapula Mosito and the MMC for Finance in the City of Joburg Funzela Ngobeni cut the ribbon to the brand new Cosmo City Customer Services Centre on 26 August.

Visitors to the centre will be able receive services such as:

  •  Obtaining a statement.
  • Request meter readings.
  • Apply for pensioner rebates and ESP.
  • Refund requests.
  • Account queries, etc.

She said, “Ward 100 and the surrounding area is not only Cosmo City. This centre will help to serve both our community and the wider Randburg area. We engaged with the community before we built it, and we are proud to be serving them by launching this service centre today. It has always been part of the multipurpose centre plan.”

Ngobeni said, “We as the finance team felt that it was important that we open this centre. Planning for this centre started in 2017, but we have been a bit delayed up until now. We had to make sure that once the centre was opened it is a well functioning centre that is able to serve our residents expertly and efficiently.

“We want our local residents to be able to access the services of the City without having to drive into Randburg or Roodepoort. As it is everywhere else, we want all of our residents to be honest ratepayers, and make it easy for them to access services such as these. They can request all of their accounts, and if they have issues in their billing, they can voice their concerns here.”

The MMC for Economic Development Leah Knott added, “I welcome this opening very much. This is something that both the ward councillor and community have been asking for a long time, and it is part of many new and exciting additions to the area. This centre will also help to serve surrounding wards such as Ward 97, 101, 114 and 126.”
