Security Officers praised for response despite it being a film set

LYME PARK – An alleged armed robbery turned out to be the set of a new film.

Security officers are being praised by their company after responding to the scene of an alleged armed robbery that turned out to be the set of a new film.

In the early afternoon of 12 August, Fidelity ADT received a panic button activation from a business in an office park.

Within two minutes of receiving the alert, the company’s reaction officers Proud Ncube, Piet Mohale, Sibusiso Mncube, and several others arrived and surrounded the business premises where the suspected armed robbery was taking place.

A managing director, Pushpinder Singh, of another business in the office park had called the security company and said two of the officers then entered the identified premises.

Singh said, “With their exemplary courage and presence of mind, they quickly established that the robbers and their victims were in fact actors performing for a video film, which also featured fake guns. We realise that this situation could have very easily escalated into a nasty event. We were truly impressed by the lengths the security officers went, their job preparedness, completeness of their work and professionalism.”

Steven Bronks, community development manager at the security company said the officers were relieved to find it was all a misunderstanding.

Bronks said, “We respond to all alarm calls with the utmost seriousness and thoroughness. Fortunately, in this case, it ended with laughs on a film set.”
