JRA repaints faded road markings in Sunninghill
A local ward councillor has expressed relief as fresh paint is applied to poorly defined intersections across the suburb.
Sunninghill residents are seeing clearer road markings at the Tudor Avenue and Spitfire Street intersection where faded lines previously made navigating the area difficult.
Ward 93 councillor Vino Reddy welcomed the work on September 10, saying the refreshed markings were a positive step for motorists and residents who had long raised concerns about faded road markings in the area.

“I’m actually very happy because this intersection, among others, has had such faded road markings,” said Reddy. “You don’t know if it’s one-way roads or where there are stops or anything.”
The road-marking work follows concerns raised with the Johannesburg Roads Agency about faded markings across the area.
JRA Infrastructure Development head Kwazelela Mcetywa confirmed to Fourways Review recently that plans are in place to repaint the roads.
“The road markings paint has been procured, and we are waiting for delivery,” said Mcetywa, adding that Level 1 painting maintenance will proceed once stock arrives.
The agency has since started carrying out the work, with markings now being refreshed at some of the intersections in the Fourways area.

Reddy said the work was a welcome development for residents who have been calling for clearer road markings.
“This is really a step in the right direction,” he said.
The refreshed markings are expected to make road layouts easier to identify for motorists, particularly at intersections where faded lines and stop markings had become difficult to see.
Reddy said he was pleased to see the work now taking place and hoped the improvements would continue across other areas where road markings have faded.
The work also comes as Ward 94 councillor David Foley raised similar concerns about faded road markings in the city, including at the intersection of Mulbarton Drive and Winnie Mandela Drive.
