Ann Harding online shop up and running

So far, the store has been a success, but more is needed to sell to ensure that the home remains funded. The online store promised something for everyone with a variety of goods on offer.

The Ann Harding Cheshire Home’s charity shop has been given a new breath of life in the form of an online shop to continue business during the national lockdown. When the lockdown began, the charity shop was unable to operate and sell to the public.

“This resulted in a massive loss of income for our home. We knew that something needed to be done, and the best way to do it would be to do something online,” said the home’s Lorraine Tebbutt.

Within a week, thanks to the expertise of volunteers, the online store was up and running. Tebbutt continued, “We have a huge variety of goods that have been donated, ranging from electronics to kitchenware, available for people to purchase.

“There has also been a tremendous need for winter clothing, of which we have a surplus.”

So far, the store has been a success, but more is needed to sell to ensure that the home remains funded. The online store promised something for everyone with a variety of goods on offer.

“About once a week we upload around 20 to 30 different items, and we want to get the word out there for the community to support this initiative,” said Tebbutt.

Staff and volunteers who continue to work at the home have observed all safe hygiene practices.

At this stage, all items purchased will only be available for collection after the lockdown is further relaxed. The store reopened officially to the local community on 12 May and will follow the strict protocols put in place, and will observe stringent hygiene practices.
