St Stithians College is proud to announce Celeste Gilardi as the new rector – the fourth in the school’s history.
Gilardi will take her place as the rector and executive head of their seven schools and will also take her place in history as the school’s first female rector.
Gilardi said, “It is a great honour for me to begin my next journey. It is a challenging time for any leader. Our focus for 2020 is to #BeStronger and we remain purposeful in our strategic intent of inspiring excellence.”
The school’s Annie Fyfe-Hitchings said that Gilardi has led the girls’ preparatory school for the past nineteen years. Before joining St Stithians, she was the deputy head at Sacred Heart College’s primary school.
She completed her studies at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Gilardi is an engaged member of various local and international organisations and is a committed lifelong learner. She places importance on all her relationships and has an established and respected network across many sectors of society, reaching into and beyond the educational sphere.
On 4 May, Gilardi made her welcome address to staff, which was posted online, as it is was the school’s staff development day.
“We all hope to make a world of difference by being true to four qualities: hope, imagination, action and faith. The futures of our young people must be full of the evidence of our hope, our imagination, our actions, and our faith. We owe them nothing less,” she concluded.
