Five reportedly dangerous criminals arrested by Honeydew Police

Besides the charges of murder, house robbery and hijacking, they will also face charges of armed robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

Through tireless hard work and dedication, the Honeydew police successfully arrested five suspects wanted for murder, house robbery and hijacking on 30 August.

Spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said the suspects have been known to the police for some time now and have been terrorising victims in the Honeydew and Douglasdale policing area. “Our reaction units worked on information provided to them, and after arresting them at 8pm last night, they searched the suspects intensively.

“Besides the charges of murder, house robbery and hijacking, they will also face charges of armed robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.”

He said that the suspects’ ages range from 22 to 48 years and are of foreign nationality.

Muthan added that the vehicle the suspects are known to drive is used as an e-hailing taxi service during the day and a vehicle of crime at night.

“Our Robbery Reaction Unit would like to send out a message to all would-be criminals: Honeydew is not a playground. We would like to thank all those involved for their hard work and dedication towards arresting these suspects, recovery of all the firearms and ammunition and other property together with the vehicle.”

All five arrested suspects will appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
