Covid-19: Eastern Cape leads the way with recoveries as positive cases reach 635 078
The Eastern Cape is leading the pack with recoveries reaching 95 per cent. Mpumalanga has a recovery rate of 94 per cent, followed by Limpopo with a 93 per cent recovery rate and the Western Cape with a 92 per cent recovery rate.
The number of positive Covid-19 cases in South Africa has now risen to 635 078, with the majority of infections still in Gauteng, followed by KwaZulu Natal and the Western Cape.
The death rate has sadly reached 14 678 with 15 more deaths having been recorded in KwaZulu Natal, 43 in Gauteng, 12 in the Eastern Cape, 18 in the Free State, 4 in the Western Cape, 11 in the Northern Cape and 12 in Limpopo, since the last report. The Department of Health has extended its condolences to the loved ones of those who have lost their lives, and has thanked the health care workers that cared for these patients.
On a more positive note, the recovery rate is sitting at 88 per cent, with 557 818 recoveries recorded. The Eastern Cape is leading the pack with recoveries reaching 95 per cent. Mpumalanga has a recovery rate of 94 per cent, followed by Limpopo with a 93 per cent recovery rate and the Western Cape with a 92 per cent recovery rate. The provinces with the lowest recovery rates are the Northern Cape with a 66 per cent recovery rate and the Free State with a 69 per cent recovery rate.
