Robin Hills Primary needs your support to stay afloat
He added that while several government initiatives have been started to help NGOs and other business stay afloat during the pandemic, many public Section 21 schools have received very little support.
Robin Hills Primary School is appealing for community support after running into financial difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Now more than ever we are in dire need of sponsors and donors to assist in keeping our school open… The consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic has also had far-reaching implications for the role that our school plays in the lives of many South African and foreign learners,” said acting principal Royston Sanders.
He added that the undetermined length of time that the pandemic may last in the country has made future financial planning for the school extremely difficult. “This situation has made our school extremely vulnerable and desperate as we are already experiencing a drastic decrease in paying school fees. We are in serious need of funds to prevent the down-scaling of operations and staff losses.”
He added that while several government initiatives have been started to help NGOs and other business stay afloat during the pandemic, many public Section 21 schools have received very little support.
Section 21 schools are allocated finances mainly by the Department of Education and the schools are responsible for ordering stationery, textbooks, paying water and lights accounts and undertaking their own maintenance.
The school, which opened its doors in 1978, celebrated its 40th birthday in 2018 and has seen thousands of alumni who grew up in Robin Hills, Linden, Windsor, Fontainebleau and the greater Randburg area, pass through its corridors. “This is an impassioned plea to our greater community for financial support to keep our school afloat during this pandemic. Any financial donations will be most appreciated.”
If you would like to donate to help the school and its learners, you may email the school directly for details.
