Local girl re-united with parents after being lost in unfamiliar area

She was found by a local man when it was discovered that she was lost and unable to find her way back home. It was then when Thabo Tjao posted on community Facebook groups for residents to help them find her parents.

A young girl who was visiting family members in Zandspruit with her mother was sent to the local spaza shop on an errand. She was found by a local man when it was discovered that she was lost and unable to find her way back home. It was then when Thabo Tjao posted on community Facebook groups for residents to help them find her parents.

Rokundwa Monyai was from Cosmo City and therefore unfamiliar with the Zandspruit area. Her parents sent her to buy nappies and she could not remember her way back. It was Sunday afternoon when Tjao found her and posted her picture online and asked the Zandspruit community to help him find her parents. Rokundwa was reunited with her mother with the help of Tjao and his team by 5pm the same day.

Tjao expressed that he was part of a team which prioritised children in need in the Zandspruit area. They are in the process of registering the organisation formally to continue their work with children in distress.

The team has previously launched a feeding scheme where they helped children with no parents with food, bought from their own pockets.

Details: Thabo Tjao 065 826 7100.
