Knocked-over Olivedale traffic light replaced

The Randburg Sun originally reported on 18 September about nearby resident's complaints about the lack of repairs to it after over nine months of lying on the ground.

A knocked-over traffic light on the corner of President Fouché Drive and Windsor Way in Olivedale has finally been replaced.

The Randburg Sun originally reported on 18 September about nearby resident’s complaints about the lack of repairs to it after over nine months of lying on the ground.

Concerned resident Louis Wolhuter, who lives in the nearby Maison d’Olivier Retirement Village, said that the traffic light was flattened by a vehicle late at night in February and the huge 10-metre long pole and cross arm collapsed to the ground.

As it laid astride the sidewalk of Windsor Way, it became an eyesore for residents and a safety concern for pedestrians as it was still fully operational.

The traffic light has since been replaced by a team from the Johannesburg Roads Agency on 16 October.

The light is once again fully operational.
