Successful weekend of operations for Honeydew Police

HONEYDEW – Multiple suspects were arrested for serious crimes from 27 November.

Honeydew police are praising the efforts of their officers after a successful weekend of operations.

Honeydew police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said multiple suspects were arrested for serious crimes from 27 November.
“We have been hard at work. Arresting these suspects is something to be proud of and we wish all police members involved success as our festive season operations continue,” added Muthan.

The majority of arrests were for the possession and dealing of drugs, but officers also uncovered various other crimes such as the possession of stolen goods and dangerous weapons.
Several illegal liquor outlets and shebeens were also raided.

“Our current operations seek to crackdown on drugs, in both buying and dealing, and the possession of illegal weapons and illegal liquor outlets across the policing area to help bring down the rate of crime during the festive season.”
All arrested suspects were expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon.

“The police members of our Echo Squad are forming an integral part of making Honeydew a safer area for all. We as a station are proud of their recent achievements. The squad will form part of the festive period plan to reduce crime in Honeydew.”
Honeydew Police Station Commander Brigadier Anesh Maharaj extended his word of thanks to all the police members who played a part in making the arrests and encouraged them to continue the good work in keeping the crime rate down in the area.
