Curro Aurora and JustOneThing365 host donation awareness day

SUNDOWNER – Curro Aurora and staff were encouraged to spread awareness about and become organ and tissue donors.

Curro Aurora and the JustOneThing365 NPO parented-up in a day of encouragement and awareness on 14 May.

They organised several NPOs to visit the learners and staff members to inform them of how they can play their part in saving the lives of others.

“Curro really does some amazing initiatives, and we have been working together for quite a while. Our philosophy is to inspire, encourage and help both young and old to make doing good a part of their daily lives,” JustOneThing365 NPO’s Petra Laranjo said.
Both the NPO Transplant Education for Living Legacies (Tell) and the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR) were on hand to give further information on becoming an organ and tissue donor. They were there to break stigmas surrounding organ donation, and encourage the conversation on becoming one.

For older learners and staff members, the South African National Blood Service was also on deck to encourage much-needed blood donations, as supply of blood used to save lives in emergency medical operations is in a constant short supply.
“People were encouraged to donate or consider becoming an organ donor, or at least share this information with their friends and loved ones to raise awareness about the importance of saving lives,” concluded Laranjo.
