Nurses shown appreciation
OLIVDALE – Churches and organisations team up to give nurses 550 hampers.
Nurses at Netcare Olivedale Clinic were treated to hampers by grateful community members recently.
This after a project headed by higher education institution Stadio, was initiated to thank healthcare workers for their hard work and dedication during the pandemic.
The institution’s Jeanette Smit thought of the project when Rachel Kolisi launched a similar project in the Western Cape.
Smit approached local residents and churches to contribute to the project.

The Colab Foundation volunteered to fund the complete project.
Dikelo Mamiala from the foundation was instrumental in the success of the project and made all the necessary arrangements and purchases.
A whopping 550 parcels were prepared, each with chocolate, hand cream, a thank you note published by Maximum Publishers in Krugersdorp and a scripture reading.
The parcels were packed with the help of members from God First City Church.
Lead pastor, Simon Hodgson said, “As a church we are so grateful for the countless hours, and enormous amount of love that gets demonstrated by our healthcare workers on a daily basis. It has been an unbelievably difficult year for this sector of society, and so we count it an honour to play a very small part in showing our appreciation to the staff of Olivedale Clinic.” International Nurses Day was on 12 May.
